Do you have a Real ID yet?

You will soon need this to board a plane or enter certain federal buildings. In Maine there was a controversy where people believed that if the old drivers licenses were not Real IDs then they were fake IDs and you would not be able to buy beer. This caused a panic throughout the state and the DMVs were jammed with people getting the Real ID.

I've had mine for quite awhile now. Was completed during last renewal, had to go into DMV for that process which was amazing very quickly completed. Lady that did mine was very nice, for the picture she took several and let me pick the best of the bunch.

Does it have a yellow star in the upper right of the drivers license like the picture he posted? If it does, it is a real ID. In California it is a yellow bear. Most are stars but it could be another symbol as well.

@Jersey2 no star. It says Enhanced and was issued 2021.
Not in a rush to renew… I don’t need to go to a federal building. I also have my passport

Just googled… enhanced is the same as Real ID
I remember now… we got all ours (kids ID) for international travel (Canada, Mexico, some Caribbean countries). Because around 2011 kids are older and we wanted to start doing international travel with them and got all our passports renewed.
So naturally, my drivers license says Enhanced for easy travel but we still bring our passports.

So strange but in the land of the free (Germany) I don't need any ID to go into a federal building or buy alcohol.

The federal building thing is for security. America has a terrorist problem and it has only gotten worse with the open border we just had. Sales of alcohol to anyone under 21 is illegal so the stores need some way to determine if a person is of legal age.

Yes, I have mine. I’m not sure why since airport security uses facial recognition now. There is a sign up that says facial recognition is optional, but by the time you get to the sign a camera has already taken your photo.

My license expires next year. I'll get it then. I'm not getting on a plane and I'm not going into a federal building unless I get picked for jury duty. It might get me out of jury duty if I don't have it.

As for my Real ID when I found out about it I made a phone call & got it in 2018 because I didn’t want to be a last minute line waiter at the DMV.

Yes of course it’s a official drivers license from Florida expires in one year in August
