Which country achieved air dominance against an enemy that outnumbered them without American help, allowing there to be a free country to launch Overlord from?

Which country held the Western Front for two years before America finally got involved because the Japanese bombed one naval base?

North Africa? The Mediterranean?

I'm not minimising the American involvement in the Allies victory, but as an Englishman whose grandfather was a Major in the British Army and whose uncles were RAF pilots in bombers and fighters before the Yanks got involved, try to bear in mind that without the British, Free French, Finnish, Swedish, and all the other European forces fighting against the Axis forces that instead of being a launching pad for invasion of Europe, Britain would have been the launchpad used to destroy America.

Any American people want to thank the European forces for holding back the Germans until you guys finally got involved?

You do realize that the US didn't stop the Germans single-handedly, right? Nor were we alone at the D-Day invasions, either.

Sure, the US was a big part of Operation Overlord, but we would not have succeeded without the help of our allies, from multiple different countries. They fought and died alongside our troops, and to suggest that we "saved them" does a disservice to all the allied nations that participated.

Yes, they needed the US, but we needed them, as well. The Normandy landings, the defeat of the Nazis, and the liberation of occupied territories was a team effort all around. Implying that America did everything alone just shows ignorance of history.
