Obviously the craft would have technology beyond our comprehension.

The occupants might be robots sent to prepare colonisation of the Earth.

Humans would be a subspecies and would be treated as such if anything like human current development.

We obviously couldn't be trusted with their technology for their own safety, even if they were not hostile, and similar to previous alien visitors.

Hopefully the craft has a mission not involving the Earth at the present time.
