When and how is the Israel–US conflict with Iran likely to end?

Ben N said a few days ago that the conflict is going to end sooner than people think. Donald Trump said that the conflict is going to end whenever he wants to. Iran couldn't care less about a cease fire.

People who think this is something new that Trump started don't understand it and don't know the history. It's been going on forever. To understand what it will take to end it, people have to stop thinking that way and look at a much bigger picture.

Trump has attacked over there.
Biden has attacked over there.
Obama attacked SEVEN countries in the Middle East.
The second Bush attacked
Clinton attacked
The first Bush attacked
Reagan attacked

Jimmy Carter brokered a peace deal that was semi-affective. But that was only between Israel and Egypt, not the rest of the Middle East, which is separate but intermingled. Many years later he even said it may have made it worse.

Other presidents, other countries, and the UN have brokered other peace deals - that did not last. Trump also brokered peace deals that were actually quite successful (The Abraham Accords). But there were still plenty of fanatics in the region, some of them with substantial power.

This has been going on my entire life, and beyond. To think that Trump started this is just plain wrong. He's trying to end it, just like so many other presidents and world leader.

Fortunately there are some moderate influences in the Middle East. If they were all as fanatical as the regime in Iran it would be a lot bigger mess.

The only way it's going to end is if the people in some of those countries decide to end it. They have to be willing to pay the price to overthrow the fanatics who are in power. The price is a lot of bloodshed. All the US and other countries can do is give them a better chance of doing it. The Iranian people have already paid a high price in blood, but they have to be willing to stay the course.

That is the ONLY way it will happen. Even if they can throw out the fanatics currently in power, that won't be the end of it. The fanatics will still exist and they will do whatever it takes to regain power.

Even if Trump can somehow miraculously pull off a regime change in Iran, the following presidents and other world leaders will need to do what it takes to keep that change. Not to mention dealing with the other countries in the region which are led by fanatics.

The trump haters want him to be wrong about this but as per usual he’s doing the hard but necessary thing

Once the dust settles, the new oil pipeline brokered with a free and democratic Iran will be a major boost to western economy

The alternative is letting the tyrannical regime continue to cause chaos in the west while supplying china with the oil it needs to keep gaining economic momentum

Iran is a paper tiger. They do not have the might of the U. S. or even Israel. What they do have is sleeper cells in counties which will do some terrorists attacks because their only hope is to scare citizens so they put pressure on the governments to stop.
That might sound super scary but these cells are already in place thanks to open borders. That’s why it’s so dangerous for the democrats to keep homeland security shutdown so long. But honestly, I think they want a terrorist attack… chaos is what the left does.

We need to appreciably debilitate Iran's nuclear program. Most of the "fighting" so far has been about disabling Iran's missile program.

Trump has the right idea here. The way to win this war is to attack Iran's energy infrastructure. Every time Iran sinks a tanker ship or threatens the Strait of Hormuz, we should destroy one of Iran's refineries.

You don't really win wars by "fighting" enemy combat units. You win wars the way William Sherman won the American Civil War: Attrition. Attack infrastructure, energy, and food supplies.

Unfortunately probably not any time soon. Although I would like this whole war to end, it makes no sense for Iran to comply with a cease fire, as Israel is the one who started the war. They started the war with Iran last year on June 13th 2025. And again last this month March 2026. US should have never been involved in this. But you have too many morons in America who blindly listen and obey to whatever Israel tells them. We send 3.8 billion dollars to Israel every year. And its been way more than that when we had to bomb and their nuclear facilities last year and again now helping them bomb Iran this month.

When iran will change. how? By iran stopping giving money to terrorists and stop threatening non-muslims. This battle will end  soon  but war- against terror is a constant repeated job. It will end maybe in a couple of days. If the Iranians do not get out of the Strait of Hormuz all their electric power stations will be obliterated. The entire country will be plunged into darkness. Riots and looting will follow. If the Ayatollah thought there were a lot of riots a couple of moths ago, he hasn't seen anything yet.

I suspect that Iran will agree to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if Israel and the US stop their attacks in Iran. World leaders will pressure Netanyahu and Trump to accept that, and the fighting will end. That might happen in the middle of 2026.
