How powerful is super Typhoon Sinlaku really, and why do estimates vary?

The USA Airforce has it as 175mph.

Advanced Dvorak Technique computer has it as 185mph

Japan Meteorological Agency has it as 190mph

It's a good thing it's not going to hit anything too populated.

What do you think of this?

Pretty early for a 175mph to potentially 190mph typhoon even in the west pacific.

It's going to be an El Nino year, so west pacific should see more than normal activity this year.

Update: It hit Saipan at 155mph landfall, or just 2mph shy of Cat 5. Storm is very large and moving very slowly, so they have perhaps another 36 ot 48 hours of heavy winds and rains. Locals reporting massive damage and massive flooding, in spite of many houses being made of concrete these days. Wooden roofs blown off, cars smashed, flooding ongoing.
