If gun-free zones work, why won’t MAGA supporters accept it?

🇲🇽 Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced that, following the shooting attack at the Pyramid of the Moon, signs will be installed at archaeological sites explaining that weapons are prohibited.

On Monday, April 20, a lone gunman opened fire from the top of the Pyramid of the Moon at the Teotihuacán archaeological site, killing a 29-year-old Canadian woman and injuring 13 other tourists before taking his own life.

Gun free zones are kill zones.

I'm not sure how or why modern people believe putting something in writing prohibits it, but they do. And, I wouldn't exactly cite Mexico, anyway. She's probably on the payroll of one or more drug kingpins who back her in this.

How often do you hear of an attack at a police station, a gun store, or a firing range? Now, how often do you hear of one in a gun free zone, like a hospital, school, or business? Why? Because the sick people who kill like this WANT a body count. It makes them special. If they attack a school, they can get a body count up there by the time someone responds. However, attacking a place loaded with firearms means they may only get a shot or two off before they get capped.

I know this because of training, watching people, and interacting with gun-owners. At any bank or credit union, you'll have gun owners walk in, ignoring the posted signs, and do business. When asked why, they cite their rights and also say that the signs don't stop bad actors from attacking. Let that sink it. They break the rules because they know bad actors break the rules. So, why it is democrats think letters on paper or metal change anything?

Because they DO NOT CARE. It's political to them.

The last time I was in Mexico, bodies were turning up, nude and dismembered, DAILY. They just don't want to lose tourist money, so they make a big show.

Also, I've been in posted places and had men with guns decide to show up. Most of the time, LEOs were far enough away so that the active shooter had too much time to kill. However, being there and armed, I had the chance to act. One reason why many don't is because they get punished harder for protecting lives than the killer does for taking lives. Politicians are mentally ill, to say the least. They live in different a different world.

All this gun violence is another social/moral panic. It is hyped to sell. They even changed the definition to include MORE shootings so that it seems like it is getting worse. Actually, it isn't. Reports show less violence, overall. The war on drugs is a big reason for may shootings. This happened during Prohibition, 100 years ago, too. Legalize drugs, like they did alcohol, and it will die down. Racism is another. A Black man with a gun is treated differently than a white man with a gun.

A MAJOR issue is the counter culture of Blacks and other groups who embrace violence. This is promoted by the media. Most movies show violent, Black men. Those that see this and think it is cool copy it. It's bad enough males are naturally violent, but when you have a culture that pushes this as macho/manly, you have real problems. And, right now, Trump is helping this. He's sent so many mixed messages that he's giving alternating current nightmares.

I don't support it because of what I have seen. From High School on, violence is part of life. We may not like it, but we have to accept it. School kids get shot and shot at, often by other kids. Women, of any age, are raped. We have serial killers roaming around freely. Even our entertainment is violent. The people who kill have their own reasons, but, no matter what, they decide to attack innocent people. They won't attack people who can defend themselves and are paying attention to their surroundings. Bad actors always want the most gain from the least trouble.

Finally, I'll end with this. The bullies I remember from High School went on to become... doctors, cops, school teachers, and others who are in positions of power and can abuse others. In school, their acts ranged from simple racist bullying all the way up to shooting at a kid they didn't like, with a.22 rifle. Do you ever wonder about the PAST of the person you trust today? The doctors and teachers of today tended to be racists and rapists as youth. The cops changed the least, being violent and dangerous then and today. Not the people I want having access to firearms. And yet, they are the ones politicians TRUST with firearms, simply because they don't know the cop's past. In most cases, they had daddy cover for them so they didn't get into trouble.

It's old, but it's true. If you want peace, prepare for war. You don't have to be violent if your attackers know you can respond and possible defeat them because you're ready. Most people don't want violence. The ones who do are created, either by their parents or society, because of abuse. We have to agree and want to live together, peacefully. And, right now, MAGA is just one of the many groups seeking to cause hostility to get their idea of peace.
