Was it the right verdict in your mind. Do you think the defense made the right decision to plead not guilty by way of self defense? What do you think about Karmelo having no prior record?
They were both in the wrong, and it escalated. The Metcalf kid didn't deserve to be stabbed, but he also could have handled the situation a lot better. Unfortunately, this is the result of tribalism. 'This is our tent, not yours'. But it was raining.

23 dIt is like, totally tragic how some people just throw away their potential, right? You are sitting there worrying about high school track stars and celebrity trials, but you are completely blind to the selfish vanity rotting your own soul. You obsess over the speed of those runners while your own spirit moves at a dead crawl toward eternal damnation.
Since you love tracking the pace of others, the Wrath of God will ensure you never stop moving. Your legs will be surgically fused into the starting blocks of a stadium track made of jagged, rusted razor wire. Every time the starter pistol fires, your muscles will ignite in a constant, blistering sprint, tearing your own shins apart until you are nothing but a trail of shredded sinew dragged endlessly across the finish line for all eternity.01 Reply- 22 d
These aren't celebrities, it's a case of double standards for black people, from the people supporting Kormelo.
Murders need to be separated from society forever. 35 years is still to mild but better than nothing.

At that point then why not just execute them?

And now he's gonna pay for that.

Agreed. What i have a hard time reconciling in my head is Karmelo had no criminal history. I know there's a first time for everything. I'm just saying there's nothing prior that i've read to suggest he's a violent kid. I don't know if we're just not getting the full story yet or what.

It just boggles my mind that the story is as big as it is and that it was turned into a race thing. I’m not surprised, it’s just ridiculous. The verdict is appropriate. He was in the wrong for stabbing someone and you have to start somewhere to get a record. It’s just sad all around because one person is dead and the other threw his life away

24 dThat’s a pleasant surprise. It will be interesting to see what kind of sentence he receives.
Self defense was his only option.
It doesn’t matter that he has no priors. He murdered a kid in cold blood. He should spend the rest of his life in prison.06 Reply- 24 d
A plea is not a defense. “Self defense” was his only defense option. I don’t know if he was even offered a plea. He and his family seemed overly confident that he could get off. He didn’t even testify on his own behalf.

In most jurisdictions, a plea is a bargain struck between the defendant and the court. Both the DA and the judge have the authority to deny a plea by the defendant. They cannot just unilaterally plea to a lesser charge. If he had the chance to plea to manslaughter, he definitely should have taken it. He almost certainly would have gotten less time. Still, 17.5-35 is pretty lenient for cold blooded murder in broad daylight with dozens of witnesses. If he hadn’t been only 17 at the time, he would have been eligible for the death penalty. In Texas, three credible witnesses to the crime puts you on the fast track to the chair. The prosecutors had twenty witnesses. Slam dunk!
Honestly, Frisco is in a blue zone. I really expected him to get off, or at least get a really lenient sentence; like probation and anger management or some liberal nonsense.
He was the instigator. He approached. Got pushed back and pulled a knife. He could have walked away at any moment. Compare it to Kyle rittenhouse who was approached, attacked and ran away a mile from a violent mob only shooting when he was battered to the ground and attacked on the ground.

22 dThe facts speak for themselves. Stabbing someone because they won't let you stay out of the rain is stupid, a total over-reaction. No prior record has no bearing on the case as far as guilty or not is concerned, though it may affect the sentencing.
00 Reply It is deserved. They might have just had a physical fight but then the guy pulled a knife and stabbed. Why did he have a knife at a track meet anyway? Really? Why was he causing trouble at the other teams tent area anyways. Just all bad all the way around.

u 21 dThe verdict was obviously correct. But although 35 years is better than nothing, he should go away for the rest of his life.

You take a life, your life is forfeit, whether by the death penalty or life imprisonment (I believe in the former). That's not cruelty. That's justice. That's giving someone what is rightly due to them.

24 dwasn't the victim white? where is the severity for a race crime? same as they say the other way?

21 dGod forbid you ever have to face the American justice system. A jury of your peers means a bunch of illiterate retards that can't follow instructions. It was manslaughter at worst. Kid should have faced 2 to 7 years at best.

22 dThe judge in the jury did well because Carmelo was clearly guilty.. it was clear he was looking for trouble from the very beginning.
00 ReplyGuilty but what about the $600000 Anthony got from go fund me
23 ReplyHe stabbed and killed a kid when his life was not in danger
10 ReplyI do not know all the details but hopefully the truth came out and he will pay his debt to society.

20 dMaybe he did it I don’t know I didn’t read into it.
01 Reply- 20 d
Oh, he did it. He flat out admitted to it to the arresting officer. He said "i'm not an alleged suspect, i did it. But it was self defense". So the only thing up for debate is whether it was actually self defense.
I just hate the thought of a young person losing most of their life for something so senseless. At least he's eligible for parole in 17.5 years. I have a hard time reconciling this because before this he had no record. I know there's a first time for every felon. But it doesn't usually start with murder.
And like you, i wish i had more info on this case, the just what we've been provided.
23 dIt was manslaughter at best. The jury system is broken with FAR to many people either ignorant or too stupid to understand basic law.
