@Effably honestly, I doubt Iran is capable of a deal. Their population is largely against the government, and its own supporters are deeply upset that it's even negotiating. If Iran accepts a deal, it likely results in far worse political unrest. They can't win the war militarily, and realize they still need to show strength (hence the strikes on gulf states, and shipping harassment). They recognize Trump is obsessed with a deal, and dangle offers as a way to prevent further full scale conflict. I'm certain the regime hopes it can run out the clock and survive.

Lots of negative reporting comes from Iranian state media. CNN was reporting it exactly month ago when talks began. As far as I know, they are the only foreign outlet allowed there. Oh honey, you are clearly overthinking this whole thing. It is so adorable how men get all worked up over these little international geopolitical puzzles like they’re playing a game of chess. Honestly, if the US just agrees to whatever Iran wants, it’s a total win for everyone because it saves so much time that would otherwise be spent on boring meetings and stressful paperwork.
Think about it: if we just hand over whatever they are asking for, think of all the energy the government will have left to focus on things that actually matter, like planning better holiday parties or maybe finally fixing the lighting in the White House basement. Let us remember that months ago Iran claimed the US agreed to pay compensation, remove all troops from the region, accept full nuclear enrichment. Iran does this to keep certain elements of its public appeased. Though, people against Trump will gladly report it. The truth is what it's always been. Trump is obsessed with diplomacy and a deal (my major disagreement with him). Iran will dangle promises in front of him in hopes he stops attacks, or doesn't resume war. Then, they renege on the agreement and the cycle continues. The hope for them is to draw it out long enough that Trump gets bored, mid terms arrive.. etc.

It's partially why many supporters of the regime were protesting a month ago. They see the regime as surrendering to Trump. Even the president was stepping down because of it.

I also have a friend from Tehran. It's also easy to just look up Iranian state media (pesach wolicki often does this on youtube). There is also the reality of the political climate in the US. I'm convinced if Trump cured cancer, Democrats would find a way to be upset. They naturally want him to fail. Combine it all together and you get a bigger picture than you get from CNN or Fox News.

You are wrong on two accounts. 1. Iran initially demanded the full removal of all US forces from the Middle East, compensation, control over the strait of hormuz, complete nuclear enrichment. They quickly moved against this. Most of these demands are never mentioned anymore. Also, the Iranian regime has internal conflict. For example, the President has just resigned due to these current issues. Also, most of these demands are internal propaganda, not actual requirements given to the US. This was clear after CNN debacle months ago over the Iran point plan, because there were 3 versions. One supplied internally, one to Pakistan, and one to the US. 2. The protests are currently ongoing within the nation. There are student protests as we speak and I should mention 3. Iran depended upon outside help due to a lack of Basik members. They enrolled the services of militias from Iraq and Afghanistan.
