How could FIFA schedule a USA vs England match on July 4th, 2026?

Get the USA and Brits playing each other on the 4th of July. America's 250th B-day. Brits can wear red jerseys and USA blue jerseys.

Here's the thing, the whole war of independence thing from the point of view of the British is just a tiny part of the 2nd hundred year war (1698-1815) with France. The anniversary of that wars end was on Thursday but past unnoticed, It doesn't have any significance to us any more so why should a tiny skirmish in the middle of it matter to us.

However Given there are thousands of Americas in England and vice versa it shouldn't be hard to organise local sport events on a less grand scale.

They can't according to the scheduling matrix. There are two games on the 4th of July. The US is locked into playing July 1 and then July 6 if they win.

The war for Britain didn't end there, it continued with France for decades later costing hundreds of thousands of lives. Last Thursday was the anniversary of the end of war with France but went unmarked in Britain. I think it's time America moved on too
