Trump's idiocy. Lots of nations are benefitting from his stupidity either financially or in global influence. China and Russia in influence... financially several countries benefit from him dumping on them, they have fresh trade partners and the US is increasingly dealt out.
tradingeconomics.com/canada/unemployment-rate
tradingeconomics.com/.../unemployment-rate
The US has a smaller unemployment rate and both nations saw a decrease June to July
Key July 2026 Data Points
Nonfarm Payrolls:Decreased by 23,000 jobs, falling well short of predicted positive growth.
Unemployment Rate: Dropped to 4.1% from 4.2%, largely because fewer people actively sought work or stayed in the labor force.
Prior Revisions: May and June payroll numbers were revised down by a combined 103,000 jobs.
Average Hourly Earnings: 12-month growth slowed to 3.2%, representing the lowest pace since May 2021
Take into account that tRump is shitting all over everything as well...
Next you'll be swearing that Qatar has more influence over US policy as Israel, and claiming that AIPAC isn't influential either...
bottom line I'd rather be a Canadian at this moment in time if for no other reason than I'm sick of him throwing away taxpayer money on self aggrandizing bullshit and a war we didn't need to be in. (Will be waiting for the suggestion that I'm "anti-semetic" because I don't stand with Bibi committing genocide.
Just pointing out the fallacy.

It also appears the biggest sector is education. It is summer. www.marketplace.org/.../heres-where-the-economy-lost-jobs-in-july
My reply was short.
Maybe you now realize $100 million in lobbying and contributions per year, isn't the same as $100 billion in 20? Qatar is the largest foreign funder of education, and lobbies 3x Israel according to this MS NOW report. That's from a leftists news organization
You realize your error

Nice reply.
Study up next time. ☺
@goaded I'm surprised US isn't lower actually. Not being dependable will destroy credibility for nations and individuals alike, mind you this chart is from 2025 so I'll guess it actually IS lower. Anything with an R' next to it's name on a ballot is a support system for the infantile thief. I hope D voters do not get lazy, we have to whip them soundly. Fun fact: James Talarico leads Ken Paxton in polls for the US Senate seat in Texas by a very modest amount. Unheard of and surely not decisive but hopeful. The last time Texas had a Democratic senator was Lloyd Benson elected in 1988. It's kind of like the wicked witch of the west and the winkies ya'know?

The most important thing is that Canada does not have political parties fighting each other and causing something like a civil war among its citizens like it is the case in the US.
The Canadian government has set its priorities to domestic issues, making efforts to create new jobs, ensuring that its social standards are elevated and does not focuse on trying to rule the world like its US counterpart that, with its expansionist and belligerent policy towards its allies ruins all the efforts of the precedent governments that aimed at harmonizing the alliances rather than destroying them.
Give it another 2 years and a full civil war in the US will settle the issue.

Both nations saw a decrease in June to July.
I do agree with you on the division
You gonna be fighting this civil war? I am wondering if maybe we can just demand more of our politicians rather than killing each other in the streets. If you don't think that's possible, I hope you'd be on the front lines of another needless war... Why so many Americans are falling for the propaganda from our politicians that are putting us up against each other instead of folks realizing they're the problem. I think we can still use our big boy and big girl voices and not murder each other.
I don't think "booming" is the right term, but they are on an upswing. Canada has it's own issues with higher prices, but things are looking up. With the arrival of the BYD Chinese electric cars, they'll be upgrading their grid and infrastructure to handle demand and rely less on fossil fuels.
Food and energy costs remain a problem, and the weakness of their currency, but the hiring market is certainly up. Big cities like Toronto and Vancouver has homelessness and immigration to deal with, like so many other countries. All in all though, still a better place to raise a family or just live in than the USA, at this point.
Canada has been crushing trade agreements over the past year. It was hit hard by tariffs last year and had to pivot away from the US and is now better diversified. Last years trade deals are just starting to kick in and are reversing a 2025 Q4 technical recession. The numbers are good but still aren't great. However. they're trending in the right direction with some bigger trade deals coming online in the second half of 2025.

The USA' unemployment rate dropped from 4.2% to 4.1%
"The labor force contracted by 264,000 to 169.094 million, with the participation rate falling to 61.4%, its lowest since early 2021. The employment rate also dipped to 58.9%, the lowest since September 2021. The broader U-6 unemployment rate, which includes discouraged and underemployed workers, was unchanged at 7.9%." Already showed where job losses were mostly impacted.
Education sector, where they are off during the summer
That is largely due to elderly. and retired
www.employamerica.org/.../
@FrodoSkywalker007 Looking back at the July reports for the last decade, there were INCREASES in non-farm employment of (thousands) 73, 114, 187, 528, 943, 1800 (those two in 2021 and 2020), 164, 157, 209, 255, 215... Until this year, where the number decreased for the first time in over a decade (feel free to look further back https://www.bls.gov/bls/news-release/empsit.htm - it's all there).
Already disproved you
1. Canada has a higher unemployment rate
2. Both nations saw deceases
3. Your complaints are connected to elderly, retired, and school workers
Nice try
Your narrative no longer works. This requires you to move the goalposts.

Disproven on all 3 accounts listed above which were essential to your narrative
If you were right when you said the job losses were due to "Education, where they are off during the summer", there would be the same pattern every year. There isn't. Every July for the last decade and more has added 100,000+ jobs except 2025 (also under Trump), and this year, where the country lost 23,000 instead.
I'm sure you've looked into how both figures are calculated and Canada's doesn't match the US's "broader U-6 unemployment rate, which includes discouraged and underemployed workers", currently 7.9%."
"3. Conceptual and methodological differences in employment measurements: Statistics Canada and Bureau of Labor Statistics"

"the following three groups of people considered unemployed in Canada are deemed by the CPS to not be participating in the labour force in the United States: (1) people who were looking for work, but who looked only at job ads (passive search); (2) people who had not looked for work, but who reported that they had a job that would start in the next four weeks; and (3) people who had reported that they were not available to work because of personal or family responsibilities, or vacation."

Besides
Why Canada has a terrible "U. S. Problem" / Hindsight
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH8_IBrx6BM
You always move the goalpost.
"You made an argument about Canada being better and yet having a higher unemployment rate."
No, I did not. I made an argument about Canada adding jobs as the US loses them. You changed the subject, albeit to something reasonably related.
You also made a statement: "Already showed where job losses were mostly impacted.
Education sector, where they are off during the summer " which is easily disproved by a decade's worth of statistics about employment in July in the US. Ten years of 100,000+ jobs added until last year's 75,000 and this year's 23,000 lost.
Has it occurred to you that Canadians might be a little more able to wait and pick and choose jobs, since they have universal health care?
Has it ever occurred to you that your argument has been debunked and you are upset? 😂
You can be I denial all you want. Receipts given.
No. Has it ever occurred to you to be honest? By the way, yes, the unemployment rate in Canada is currently higher than the US, but it's also not by as much as you'd like to make out.
The facts remain: The US is losing jobs, Canada is adding them. In a month where the US has almost always added jobs.
Thank you for finally conceding ☺
That was never a disagreement.
Mine was defeating your political narrative.
Reread your loaded question, then reread my reply to it.
Look who's talking. Changing to unemployment rates (calculated differently in the two countries) was moving the goalposts, something you keep accusing me of.
Here's what your link actually says about education jobs:
"“... local education employment has fallen every month since March,” Gould said — as in, when school is still in session. “We know that there have been funding cuts at the Department of Education. Worse budget cuts may be coming, and that could cause even more uncertainty about hiring or keeping teachers on staff.”"
www.employamerica.org/.../
Who cut the funding? Republicans and Trump.
So who caused the lack of jobs?
Once again, you are shifting goal posts.
You admitted Canada has a higher unemployment rate, and are now attempting to shift arguments into my direction that i never made.
I never claimed the US economy is great, or Trump is a genius.
My arguments have been specifically
1. Canada has higher unemployment (you admitted)
2. Your other arguments were largely connected to education and elderly
Adding things to my argument is pathetic.
You are desperately looking for a way to get a rise out of me, or to misconstrue what I've claimed.
You lost again. Get over it.
Already answered.
Yes.
It's not my argument
You started moving the goalposts by talking about unemployment rates and pretending that education jobs are normally lost at this rate and time of year. What you did finally concede, elsewhere, is that the job losses are due to Trump and Republicans. Why you couldn't simply state that fact yesterday is what I'd like to know.
You were asking about what lie you keep telling: "your defeat". Also, have you ever considered trying to get to the truth instead of being adversarial?
It's a fact that Canada just created jobs and the USA lost them, and only one of those things is good.
You've admitted that Trump is to blame for job losses, how can a conversation about job losses in the US NOT be about Trump? He's the president!
@goaded you will notice the direction of this convo.
You ask a question related to job reports claiming the US economy is floundering, and Canada booming.
Assuming employment was the only standard (it's not, for any search shows the US having a higher growth than other major nations www.efginternational.com/.../...-lead-growth.html) I provided links that shows the unemployment rates. You initially disagreed and made other arguments connected to the topic i was discussing (such as cause of loss). I provided links that proved my point on source of loss. Eventually you agreed to my point. Yet, you felt the necessity of going down the Trump road, or applying claims I never made.
As stated, this nonsense you apply to me. I challenge you to find anywhere here where I make claims in the contrary?
It's you desperately looking for a win in a debate where you've largely been debunked.
I can see that you have NEVER stated what your argument is, but rather than sum it up, you'll spend a week crying that nobody understands your godlike intellect.
You also, very weirdly, dance around the fact that the problem in the US is Trump, even though you grudgingly admitted it once.
I never made such an argument. 🤦♂️
Well.. it's obvious.
Students who fuck around never do as well as those who work diligently.
America is fucking around trying to pirate and steal from everyone. Whereas Canada is making deals and winning new business. .

What's the Turkish economy like? It's gotta be bad if you have to pretend to be British
The US economy is still significantly outperforming Canada's economy and it's forecast that it will continue to outperform it, as well as the G7 and the EU's economy.
Just about every "measure."
I don't use Google or AI. Post a summary, if you like.
Of course, spending like drunken sailors helps the economy short term, which is why Republicans are so obsessed with restricting spending under Democratic presidents. Your debt is currently over 125% of GDP. "The federal government debt as of August 4, 2026 was $39.83 trillion."
A couple of years ago, when there was a responsible president, it was predicted to be about 100% of GDP.
upload.wikimedia.org/.../...ic_as_of_Feb._2023.png
upload.wikimedia.org/.../...the_United_States.webp
@Twodogs0525 correct.
Our friend here will just move the goalpost
"Well! This one area doesn't look good"
@FrodoSkywalker007 "This one area" is massive government spending to boost the economy, something Republicans would not allow to happen under a Democratic president. A $3 trillion increase in the national debt and a debt to gdp ratio increased by 25% a decade before it was pessimistically predicted.
Inflation is still higher than when Trump came in to office, and all of that is down to Trump.
@Twodogs0525 case in point
If the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in a perfect run, he'd find a way to disparage it 😂
@FrodoSkywalker007 I get it, you don't like the way I ask why things are why they are. What do you think would happen to the UK economy if it went $1 trillion more into debt and spent it in that economy over two years? What do you think would happen long-term?
That's the 25% increase in debt to GDP that Trump's done to the US.
It's like talking to someone who brags about having a bigger house than you until you realise they couldn't afford their mortgage. The US deficit to GDP is the highest in the G7.
@FrodoSkywalker007 So, what, massive government borrowing doesn't positively affect the economy short term?
While debt is a definite concern, don't compare the UK to the US. The US has been outperforming the G7 and EU for nearly two decades! And is forecast to continue outperforming their economies. @FrodoSkywalker007 I wouldn't say he changes the "goal post" but definitely the narrative of his question. Canada's economy definitely had a strong quarter, coming off a RECESSION but is still unstable. The US economy cooled a bit but doesn't show any signs of "floundering."
I should also add, that one major reason for the US carrying heavy debt yearly, is social security and medicare. Each retiree, pays significantly less into the system than they receive.
"Each retiree, pays significantly less into the system than they receive."
Of course they do, that's the point! What alternative would you suggest?
But, yes, the US does great in all the metrics that mostly affect the well off, but jobs, inflation, and health care are the things that affect the vast majority of Americans.
For example, outperforming on GDP per capita just means people are working longer hours (e. g. no paid vacation vs. 4 weeks minimum in the EU). It doesn't mean people are more efficient or that they're happier. Quite the opposite.
That's why this question is about jobs (and many of the lost jobs have been factory jobs). Even when US jobs are being added, it's at a far slower rate than in previous non-recession years.
On the other hand, an article I just read held up the following as the US doing well:
"192,470 Americans control approximately $22.3 trillion in private wealth." (2/3rds of GDP).
That's while you blame old middle- and working-class Americans for taking the pensions they've paid into their whole lives.
Do you actually believe US worker's don't get paid vacation? There are no federal mandates but it's an added benefit for workers by employers. I get four weeks and will top out at six weeks after 10 more years. If you're full time, you average a week or two after one year worked and it increases through the years. Also, on average, a US worker outproduces more than an EU worker. Government "safty nets" aren't gonna make you rich! They're only decreasing your standard of living. You live in Germany, correct? I've been there twice, it's a wonderful country! But it's in economic decline. That's why I don't understand you fascination with the US. Maybe worry about your economy?
And like health insurance, it's another way to discourage workers from changing jobs. In the EU everyone gets 20 days a year from day one; many people get more.
www.bls.gov/ebs/factsheets/paid-vacations.htm
"In 2025, thirty-one percent of private industry workers received 10 to 14 days of paid vacation after one year of service. After 10 years of service, 31 percent of private industry workers received between 15 and 19 days of paid vacation."
54% of Leisure and hospitality workers don't have access to paid vacation, nearly one in five don't in construction, trade, transportation and utilities, professional and business services, education and health services. I don't suppose anyone in the "gig economy" does, either.
Government "safety nets" aren't supposed to make you rich, they're supposed to make sure you and your family don't starve or have to resort to crime if you lose your job.
A large part of the problem with the world economy is because two idiots started wars they can't win in Ukraine and Iran.
Have you compared the infant mortality rates in Germany, the UK and the US?
The US is at #53 in the world, with rates 44% and 76% higher than the UK and Germany.
Life expectancy?
The US is at around number 55 in the world for life expectancy at birth (and at age 15, so it's not due to the infant mortality rate); it raises to around number 40 if you survive to 65, and only exceeds the UK's "broken" NHS if you're lucky or rich enough to live to 80.
I don't know about you, but I'd like an extra three or four years of healthy life, but that would mean living in Japan my whole life, and I don't like Sushi! (Kidding, it's delicious.)
en.wikipedia.org/.../...tancy_bar_chart_-world.png
Your very first point is WRONG! US workers change jobs at significantly higher rates than EU workers. We aren't restrained by government mandates. I've changed jobs twice in three years, for better benefits. We aren't restricted to government mandates. It's a difference in opinion, I guess and maybe culture? You keep flexing your welfare system, while ignoring your stagnant economy and I'm flexing our self reliant economy, while it continues to grow but leaves some behind. Your life expectancy bs has a lot more to do with life style than quantity of Healthcare.
They know how to work with people, nationally and internationally, not against them?

@goaded I'll add this here too.
You are just as dishonest as your friend here.
I do appreciate you having the decency to not place the cloak and dagger games. So, thank you.
However, asking the same question a thousand times, when it's been answered over and over again, is a bit ridiculous.
My argument has been upfront and direct. It's the very answer I provided here. It's the position you conceded to me.
Adding in nonsense tds and political blabbering has nothing to do with my argument, as I've asked you to prove on multiple cases.
You and your friend go about debating in different ways
He resorts to personal attacks and hiding behind blocking and anonymity
You miscontrue arguments, move goalposts, or turn the conversation into a game of "what's your argument" when having had the discussion for days 😂
@FrodoSkywalker007 "I literally told you a thousand times" No. Not once.
I'm inferring you meant "The US may be shit, but Canada isn't exactly booming. Look, it's got a higher unemployment rate" (while pointing at an incompatible calculation that inflates Canada's numbers).
Except you've spent a week and hundreds of words avoiding saying that first part while dancing around claiming you've said what you haven't.
@goaded as I posted within my own answer below.
Look at my answer to your post. I'm not playing the game of answering your question over and over again. If you choose to be willingly ihe ignorant of our multi day conversation, thats on you.
