Raw data from the Hurricane Hunter showed a one-time wind of 200mph sustained, but they flew through the storm repeatedly trying to repeat this and couldn't' find it again. They've left intensity at 180mph sustained for now. There was information in the Hurricane Hunter discussion about a drone which was released and found sustained wind in excess of 230mph at an altitude of 500meters, or about 1600 feet. If confirmed, this is probably the second strongest flight level winds ever recorded directly.
Opinion: The storm was likely a 200mph sustained hurricane but only held that intensity for 30 minutes to one hour. Presently, It is back down to 180mph and fluctuating. Advanced Dvorak computer suggests it will try to intensify again soon.

No, hurricane Polo has never reached 200 mph and stayed well beyond that speed according to meteorological data from NOAA's National Hurricane Center.
Only a few hours after reaching Category 5 strength, Polo was revealed by Hurricane Hunters to have a pressure of 892 mbar (26.34 inHg) and winds of 180 mph (285 km/h), making Polo the second-most intense Pacific hurricane by central pressure (after only Hurricane Patricia) and tied with Hurricane Rick as the third-strongest by maximum sustained winds, after Patricia and Linda. It is also tied with the 1935 Labor Day hurricane and Hurricane Melissa for the fourth-most intense hurricane in the Western Hemisphere by central pressure.

Watch re-analysis in 6 months. They had dropsonde data which should have been interpreted as either 190mph or 195mph sustained winds, but was instead interpreted as "gusts".
By the way, I was getting my information directly from NHC's raw data files and from their discussion. I simply interpreted the data as what it is: A 200mph sustained surface wind. They basically "threw out" the entire sequence of dropsonde data and said it didn't matter.
Yes it is proof.
