Only 29,000 jobs were created and 90,000 jobs were projected. People speculate that the rise in interest rates have slowed hiring and also the fact that Labor Day was Sept 7th which was the latest it can be. Very little hiring goes on the week before a holiday.

@888thegreat If you consider everyone of working age versus those who are actually working, then 25% is probably about right. But those non-workers include sat at home mothers, early retirees, people who would rather collect welfare than work, people in prisons, etc. That's not what the unemployment rate refers to, and it's been the same for decades. The unemployment rate only considers people who are working and people who are looking for work. It's an indicator of how difficult it is to find a job, not how many people are actually working.

There's a lot of jobs needing "skilled" labor that are not being filled. As other's are saying, there never was an economic boom in the US, just steady growth and overall stability in the job's market. Especially when compared to the rest of the G7.

In other news, First quarter and Second Quarter GDP were revised upward! First quarter up to 2.2 and second quarter up to 2.5 from 1.5. I'm losing faith in whatever system they use to calculate these numbers.

thee numbers were lower than expected. In July they were revised upwards. These might also be revised upwards. When Biden was president the numbers were always over inflated and then a few weeks later revised downwards. Tht is why President Trump fired the statisticians that Biden had because he wanted accurate reports instead of lies.
