Do Guys Normally Ask Girls to Go Clubbing for a Date?

So I have recently started dating this guy -- for about a month or so. After hitting the chi-chi lounge scene on our last date he asks me if I would be into hitting a few night clubs with him for our next date. I said I thought it would be fun!

He went on to say that he would love to take me dancing and show me off. He gushed about how hot he thinks I am... and that he would love to hit the dance floor with me.

The guy I am dating is almost 38! I am only 29 and am a former clubbing girl in my university days... but haven't in a long time. He knows this so perhaps he wants to have some fun with me.

I should note that he and I have been friends for 10 years and originally dated a decade ago after meeting at a club.

Is this normal? Do guys normally take women to clubs? I was under the impression it was a solo pickup place?

Honestly I don't go to clubs for the girls... I go because I enjoy the dancing and the atmosphere. I don't go with a group and probably seem like a loser for it, but it's really all about me. No-one else matters once I'm on the floor.

From what what you're saying you both used to go clubbing. For a guy, just as for a girl... knowing your partner is desirable to others can be a huge turn on. Adding to that the intense feelings you get with the energy and activity of a club... I'd say he's really looking to have a good time.

Some guys are more jealous than others. I'd say your guy has more confidence due to his seeming willingness to share you with the world on the dance floor.

Sounds like he just wants to have fun, and with you. If it's a first date, then you know it's more of a social date, nothing serious. But in your case, it seems he really wants to show you off and let you have a good time with something you enjoyed doing back then, and this time with a guy you like.

These days, clubs are usually a haven for singles looking to hook up, but since the guy you're dating is older and apparently a good dancer, I can see why he would want to take you clubbing on a date.
