well I went through that with an ex he was over my house and we talked and he asked if we should break up and I thought nothing of it til 2 months later I found out he was with another girl. so I do believe that he does want to see other people and explore his options if he brings that up to you again ask him questions of the subject.
next time he asks if you think you should break up tell him no then ask him why he keeps asking you that and if he wants you to break up with him
