Why do people let their selves go. Do they just not care anymore, does it not bother them that they gained 30lbs of fat. I know I'm young (turned 21 yesterday) but it's not that hard to stay in some what decent shape. Even on my busy days where I don't really have time to do anything I manage to exercise 20 minutes and on a college budget I manage to eat healthy. Do you think that people just get lazy, or maybe they just give up because life isn't what they thought it would be. Also I'm not just talking about gaining weight, just not taking care of their self.

Well there are plenty of reasons. Some people are raised with bad eating habits which gives them an unhealthy metabolism which makes your body not burn energy but store it. There are health issues which make people gain weight and issues with losing weight making it close to impossible because there body is not working correctly. There are genetics. Mental issues. I have seen women be thin there whole life the go through pregnancy and get a hormonal imbalance which makes it very very hard to lose weight. Not to mention the older you get the harder it is to lose weight. Men are biologically programmed to have higher amounts of lean body mass, or muscle, than women. Lean body mass is the key factor that determines the rate of one's metabolism, the body's calorie-burning system. Since men have more muscle, their metabolisms are higher, and they burn more calories even when they're resting, so the final result is a more rapid weight loss. there are a lot of things that determine someones weight yes without a medical issue everyone is capable of losing weight BUT some people have to work a lot harder at it than others0
