I miss my cheating ex?

We dated for a year. He cheated on me 10 months into the relationship. I found out about a month ago. We have been broken up for 3 weeks. I tried to make the relationship work, but, i am too hurt by the lies.

However, I miss him a lot. I hate feeling the way that I do. I’m not sure if I should try and date him again, or move on?

Ones a toxic always a toxic. I have a similar experience. I was in a relationship with a narcissist guy. I dont know how to explain but he overpowered me with his charms and stuffs.. Later I caught him red handed with another girl who was my college friend too. I was in a shock.. he came to me crying and apologizing about his mistake. I was so stupid in his love that I accepted him. Later after 20 days he blocked me from everywhere, when I went to see him.. he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of his home.. and locked the door outside.. I was shocked and was in mental Trauma, I was so dumb that i tried calling him, sent him emails, was waiting for him out his house.. but he never responded. I was in a depression.. Later after 3 months he again came back to my life saying he had some issues in his life and so he broke up, I was again stupid enough to believe him.. Once again in another 4 or 5 months i caught him messaging his another girlfriend.. and they were sexting, when I asked him about this.. he blamed me for doubting him and made me feel guilty for checking his privacy.. Again I plead and cried to him to be back which he did with some favours.. which i cannot share here.. I agreed to all but in another 3 months he left town without informing me and I have not been able to contact him since then.. Its over a year to this story. I still shiver when i think of those moments. So make sure you dont be as stupid as I am, not let anyone come back who is a jerk.

I wish I could have just broke up with him, when i caught him first.. at least my self esteem would have been intact

Nothing wrong with missing someone that treated you poorly. He likely treated you well at times too and you had good times. It’s not black and white so why wouldn’t you miss him. I miss my ex that dumped me before major heart surgery for years. Should you get back together? Absolutely not unless he is remorseful and is willing to work hard on improving your relp so it doesn’t happen again.

I told him he needs therapy. He started to see a therapist. He decided he wanted to be free and chase other women. I let him be free. He came running back to me the next day. He told me “being single isn’t what i thought it would be. The player life isn’t worth it. You’re what i want. You’re the best thing to happen to me”. I told him i needed time away from him.

I’m afraid a few months from now he’ll say the same thing - that he wants to be single and chase other women.

For some reason. He thinks relocating, getting a new job, and chasing/dating other women will solve his issues.

Sounds like that would be his pattern. Not sure if he’s ready to commit to anyone. I think it be very hard to trust him bc you would not only wonder when next time he cheats is but also the next time he leaves is. Couples therapy would be a solution but he would have to really want to work on it as well as you

Yes. He is seeking a therapist. He originally told the therapist he didn’t want to be with me. But, after a day of not being with me (he went out with his friends who are bad influences, he got very drunk, and did some hard drugs). He called me the next day and told me he realizes he made a mistake and wants to work on the relationship.

I told him to give me space. We haven’t talked in a week since that conversation. I don’t think he is ready to commit either. He told me he feels insecure because I’m his first girlfriend, and he hasn’t had many sexual experiences before me. And all his friends are players, and I guess he wants to be one too. As if women’s attention is what a man should base his worth off of... anyways. I just feel if I date him again, he’s going to want to leave me

i Think it’s great he’s doing therapy. Maybe give it a few months to let that start working before recommitting if that’s what you want. What’s the rush. I think to retry now with no changes on either part is a recipe for disaster; speaking from experience and trust me it’s harder the second time around to get over it

You're lonely, is all. Everyone gets withdrawal from the companionship. You only were with him for 10 months. If he comes back, only then consider it. Dont ask for him back, try distracting yourself.

But let me tell you something.. If this guy cheated U once, he will probebly cheat U twice.. Or three times.. and more... and more... So.. I know life sucls right now.. but.. you will realise that you are better without him by time :)

The reason I ask, is that when you get over the infatuation you had with someone, you start to see him differently. You start noticing little flaws. Things you found attractive are no longer so.. In some cases you might even look back and say "how the heck was I so blind?"
This is a way to know if you've gotten over him or not.
