Do I confront girl who is spreading rumors about me?

So I dated this guy for two years. We are in love, its great..then he decides that he wants to be single for awhile. I'm not stupid, he wants to sleep with other girls. Great. So, after weeks and weeks of moping around, I get out and start dating again. Well I really became attached to this new guy and went on trips with him. When my ex found out, he found a girlfriend immediately. I will make this short, they break up 3 months later, I broke it off with new guy a month prior because of the distance. I went to my local bar, and poof, there was old boyfriend. We started talking and he told me how much he loved me and blah blah blah. Few drinks in we sleep together. His ex-girlfriend texted me a few days later asking me if we did, and I told her the truth. She was so angry that she's been going around town telling everyone lies about me. Saying that I have been with married men, that I was pregnant with my ex's child, etc. It's crazy! I have had to deal with this for MONTHS now. I haven't even been dating my ex anymore, we have managed to stay friends. Tell me, do I just let this girl keep spreading gossip or do I confront her about it? And in all honesty, does she really even have a reason to be mad?

It probably felt good to tell her that you slept with him, didn't it? You sure learned a valuable lesson too, right? Never tell an ex-girlfriend anything, anything. You aren't friends & no good can come of it.

That said, you do have a mess on your hands and how you handle it now will make or break you. NO, do not confront her. She is a hot mess. Learn from what happened before, no good can come from talking to her yourself. If you have a good reputation, your friends will not believe what she is saying, so do not worry about it. Since you are on good terms with your ex, call him, tell him what she has done, be concise in your story, ask for his help. Tell him exactly what you want him to do: call her and tell her to stop this now.

Does she have a reason to be mad? Does crazy need a reason? No, she is not being reasonable.

Forget her now and focus on you and what is good in your life. The people who know you know who you are and what you are like. They will not buy her stories, so don't give it another thought. Rise above it.

Thank you, you really did help. It definitely didn't feel good per say to tell her the truth, because I hate to make anyone feel pain. But, when someone asks me something I honestly tell them. I think asking for my ex's help MIGHT help, or it could make it worse and she just go even more out of hand. But, you are right, I have a lot of people who care about me and its rare for someone to believe her. I will just do my best at trying to turn the other cheek and not acknowledge her behavior. You are welcome. Just remember that old saying, what goes around comes around...meaning: karma: it will all come back on her someday. So don't sweat it. Live a good life, don't worry about the mean people (within reason). They will have to deal with all that they have done someday.

You probaby should not had told her that you slept with your ex. That was none of her buisness and you really didn't had to answe her text. Maybe this situation with her spreading gossip could had been avoided. I think you shouldn't confront her. You can let it go or you can spread rumors about her to get back at her. I don't think it's worth it to get in a fight with her about it. I think she is just player hating on you. Ex's player hate on other ex's.

If they broke up, no she has NO right at all, & I'd ABSOLUTELY confront her! This could cause you real problems, and as you've done NOTHING wrong you don't deserve it...
