Def address it. It's weird that something like that's circulating if it's completely unfounded. I'd ask one or two people individually first though to see if you can figure out where it started. People might not know what's going on so bringing it up in front of the entire group might make everyone buy into it more/feel defensive and therefore less likely to hear you out.
