My ex boyfriend's dad has cancer.

My ex boyfriends dad has cancer, I'm still in shock. We've been talking more and stuff but what should I do to help him... I've never dealt with this kind of thing before and I really want to try and ease some of the pain although I know it's unlikely ill do so. I'm worried about bringing the topic up. How should I go about it/ what should I do to help him out?

Just be there for him. You don't have to bring anything up or do anything specific. Just being nice to him and letting him know you care and are available to talk to is a lot.

He might just want someone to talk to about other things and take his mind off it. So let him lead the conversation and if he brings it up, say you''re sorry and that you're there for him if he wants to talk about it ever. Then just listen.

Sometimes people just need to have someone to talk about normal things with or have fun to feel better. so just go with the flow and you'll be the most helpful.
