Many a man will miss their ex because they realize that they themselves probably dont pull their own weight in building genuine connection. Take most guy friendships. Do they sit around and talk about their feelings? No. They just escape into video games or sports. Post break up, Men realize, oh shit, I have no one to talk to at the end of the day except me. I'm used to having things given to me but now it is just me. I thought the sex was boring but now I have no sex, so I would prefer that.
A mature man will realize that relationships are about give and take-out just give up and let her "win" and take what sex he can get as a result. Real relationships require wanting to give another person a reason to stay. This includes creating a safe warm supportive environment where you take your partners side regardless what their boss or annoying sister or weird friend says.

Post break up a lot of guys realize that they dont even do this for themselves and it doubles their own misery because they have gotten used to someone cheering them on when they are not able to do it for themselves.
