What are the reasons for someone hiding their last seen on whatsapp? Specifically after their ex did?

I did it two days before valentines day. I did check his last seen as it was always on. He reached out on valentines day and I didn't respond. He then put his last seen to private the next day

Only other reason is if they don't want to respond to someone's messages without showing the person that they are actually ignoring/delaying to answer them

It is possible my ex changed his settings too after our breakup but I'd say more than likely he just doesn't want to answer someone straight away without looking like he's ignoring that person, possibly your messages
