Guys, Pity or still love? What would you do?

Hi. We broke up a few month ago. We are still in contact. He told me that he still loves me but his not good with his mind and can enjoy anything and want to be a single. In meantime I found out I have a cancer. I'm during chemo. Is he contact me because he feels pity or still there is a hope to back to each other? What would you do guys? What should I do? I don't want pity, I told him. I'm afraid that he see me as a sick girl, nothing to looking forward. I'm lost.
