Is my ex interested in my friend or just trying to upset me?

My ex and I had a bad breakup and it was messy. He refused to talk to me and end things in a good way. He has also blocked me. However, he will talk to my friend about his side of things. Why does he talk to my friend and not me?

Because it would be too painful to talk about the hurt with the person who hurt him. Plus he can say whatever he wants and the friend won't know the truth from a lie. (Sorry if that was harsh.)
