My ex reached out and wants to be friends, I still love him. what can I do to get him back?

I did tell him that but he insists that we become friends to build our foundation again and see if we can be together in sometime again, I don't know what that means tho

You already have your foundation, you have already been together. Friendship wouldn't do for me. I'd suggest going on dates, like how you two started, but not friendship.

He wouldn’t commit, he says it missing steps and not solving real issues. Whenever we meet and we’re together everything becomes wonderful and all things nice. We just sweep issues under the carpet. That’s what he says

He’s bad at communicating and I overthink, so we had issues because of that and we broke up. He also dated someone right after but he says it didn’t work out with her because he couldn’t get over me. And now he is insisting on being friends again.
