When you get emotional do you let your emotions take control of you when you find out your partner breaks his or her promise?

I find once I get too emotional I will end up starting an argument every time. It’s never easy for me to stay calm when I found out my ex lie and cheated on me.

So, my ex-fiancé promised me for months his immigration into Canada was taken care of.

It was a lie. One he didn't fess up to until AFTER he was denied entry into Canada.

I controlled my emotions then for a few reasons: I was in front of Border Patrol agents, I wanted to get back to his mother's house so she could buy me a plane ticket back home, and he had expressed he wasn't mentally capable of handling any extra criticism.

My family has worked with immigrants being deported in the past (something my ex's entitled American white male ass didn't know), so I understand it can be a very traumatizing experience. I also wanted to stay in control for myself - I was in crisis and I needed to keep myself safe.

I got mad at him later, when I gave him back the ring. Being calm and grounded when I had that talk with him was my way of showing how serious his fuck up was - and he fucked it up even more by calling it a "business meeting" and trying to shake my hand to end the convo early.

It was incredibly immature, and sealed the deal on my leaving him.

I got emotional on him once: the night before we drove back to his mother's. We were staying in a hotel and I finally broke down angry crying. Still coherent and still able to have a "talk" with him (he was too fuckwitted at that point to register much of what I was saying).

But even then, it was safer for me to control my emotions mostly.

I let it out when I was back home, safe with friends and my cat. I processed with my therapist and with friends.

No. I'm very analytical. I don't trust easy. So my length of trust with her is directly proportional to how long we've been together + how she's shown loyalty and love to me. I have no problems with severing ties and ending it right there.
I've said many times I ONLY fully trust my family. They're the ONLY people I know that have EARNED that level of trust.
