He begged me to stay in touch with him after he broke up with me. It was a long distance relationship, been few days since we broke up but we still talk like nothing happened.

Up to you. I prefer remaining friends because I want to be mature enough were it don't effect our friendship we once had beforehand unless if something like cheating happens or something else really bad I don't see why not.
It don't make all that time in a friendship meaningless.
