Should I keep in contact with my ex boyfriend?

I’m married, and I just got a message on Facebook from my old boyfriend I dated two years ago (he broke up with me) that he wants to call on the phone and talk (as friends). I’ve had him on Facebook as friends for years before I got married and I rarely heard from him and my Husband didn’t care since he has an ex girlfriend on his too. We openly show our Facebook to one another, no secrets.
I’ve been going through a lot in life and I guess my ex has too, but he hasn’t shown any interest on Facebook when I posted things that was looking for support from friends and family with. Nothing crazy but if he cared I feel like he would have shown interest. Now all of a sudden he wants to talk and it just feels weird because he hasn’t been great at caring about my feelings as a friend. I haven’t told my husband yet, or replied back. Do you think I should ignore him, or talk?

If he hasn't shown interest in the past it may be because he was in a relationship. But maybe that has petered out so... it is possible he wants to try and rekindle a flame from the past. But I think if 2 people are friends then a marriage should not affect it as far as a friendship goes. But... who knows what the real reason is. Only he can give you the answers to that. It wouldn't hurt to exchange messages on FB, but as for getting together to rehash old times? That is up to you of course, but my vote is no.

He sent another message and said he loves me and can’t live without me. Of course I had to tell him I’m taken and that we can’t be romantic partners. Then he said it’s better we don’t talk and took me off Facebook. I was not expecting this kind of remark from him, but it’s for the best we got that out in the open for closure.

In my opinion you shouldn't talk to exs and it seems like you still have feelings for him so I'd stay away so you don't hurt your husband

I don’t, he however never got over me and admitted today. So we then agreed we shouldn’t contact each other anymore and he’s off Facebook now

My rule is if you don't feel comfortable with this situation in front of your spouse. Meaning you should always have these interactions like your husband will read them. If you ever realize that you wouldn't want him reading or knowing about the Facebook friend or messages. Stop

We are no longer friends. He was trying to convince me we belong together and I had to say no that won’t ever happen. He removed me and said it’s best we don’t talk

This is really easy. Ask your husband. That's all there is to it. Why would you possibly do anything besides asking your husband if you guys are so open, it might be ok. But not telling him is clearly not right. You know that I think.

He knew, and it didn’t bother him. But turns out my friend took me off Facebook now so we aren’t talking anymore. He never got over me and it wasn’t healthy for any of us to continue talking

Well honestly, that's probably for the best. It really is. I'm sure it still sucks for you. But it really probably will be much less bullshit for you to not continue talking.

If he hasn't been friendly with you and randomly is, he almost certainly wants to hookup with you and will see you being willing to call him as an indication you would be willing to cheat on your husband.

You were right! But not hookup he said my husband isn’t the right man for me thinking I’ll divorce him and go back with him. Clearly I would never. My friend then said we shouldn’t took again and he’s off my Facebook now

If you do tell your husband first and make it clear to your ex that your married and happy and not to get any ideas

He’s off Facebook. He thought I had feelings for him and I don’t, he never got over me. So we agreed no more contact and he’s removed now

I suggest you limit your interaction with him to messages and keep your husband in the loop.
