Guy got a restraining order on me because I left him?

I found out he has a long time girlfriend and I told him I did not want him anymore and I went to his house and tried to talk to him. He got a restraining order against me. I never harmed him in any way. Is it common for me to do this? I can’t physically fight him.

How do you know he got a restraining order against you?

Were you served to appear in court so they could tell you about it and you could fight it or not?

Protection orders require some sort of violence to have happened, and a police response before you can get one.

Restraining orders are not the same as a protection order though, they do still however require evidence of need, someone cannot simply request one and have it granted. Courts often don't even give them out when there is clear evidence of violence and it is needed.
