that really depends on what you actually mean by "reconnect"

what does that imply, what does that actually mean?

to speak again with them? to meet with them for a chat? to catch up on how things went for each other?

to try and revive something and give it another try? to try and clear some unresolved issues?

a lot of it also depends on how did they two of you actually ended up things, good terms, bad terms... neutral? absolute horror show of a situation?

personally... I am great terms with my exes, and when we meet either by chance or by choice, there's absolutely no problem at all as we didn't have any nightmarish ending and we did not have significant bad experiences from one another

I ended up doing it. We dated for 6 months and I contacted him after a couple of years. We went out for lunch and talked and it was ok. We are both single and have matured a bit since we dated so the reason I was reconnecting with him was to start a relationship with him. Only thing is you can never go back. We're friends now and that's all we will ever be to each other.
