Is getting back with an ex ever a good idea, or asking for trouble?

David X in his book said don't get back with an ex as you will just remember why you broke up in the first place. Also when people find out their partners are with an ex they can get in trouble even if they are just friends or working together.

Getting back with an ex is only a good idea if: both of you have grown, the original problem is truly fixed, no cheating/abuse, and you’re not just lonely or nostalgic.

Otherwise it’s recycled pain, red flags, and emotional déjà vu. Chemistry without change = same breakup, sequel edition.

I know of a couple of couples... who have been doing great after trying again with their exes... but that's just two couples and... let's just say they were better at relationships and also at growing up a bit quicker... lol

I also know about a few couples who were just messing around and doing a whole lot of nonsense drama and terribly bad decisions so...

it really isn't about whether or not trying again with an ex is a good or bad idea... it is about what kind of people they are and how do they do at relationships

personally... I've never tried but also I never had to do it, lol

I’m in my 50s and I’ve done it a few times and to be honest it just doesn’t work out. I can’t say why or that no one should try it but in my experience people become ex girlfriends and ex-boyfriend‘s for a reason it probably needs to stay that way.

That depends on why you broke up in the first place. If it was some dumb misunderstanding that you both realize, that's fine. It was cheating or abuse then you should never get back together
