Why do exes get angry when they see their ex with someone better then themselves?

Like. Especially if they ended the relationship. They get jealous or angry. Can they not understand they aren’t with them anymore and don’t have control over them.

Some exes are even controlling and still want to run their lives.

They get so angry. When they end up with someone who actually makes him/her happy.
