Yes and no. Young people like to exaggerate the “pain” of heartbreak. They’re so frigging dramatic! Ell oh ell!
But with older couples, the number of people who die within a few months of their lifelong love is beyond coincidence, even when there are no life threatening illnesses or injuries in the second when the first passes. It’s tragically sad and somehow beautiful at the same time. It breaks my heart, but i’m not likely to die from it! Ell oh ell!
Very true
I follow a police officer on line. His name is Tommy Norman. His daughter passed away from a drug overdose last year. Almost immediately after her passing, he suffered a heart attack.
He was just so hurt and heart-broken over his daughter. I alerted all my friends and family. We gave to his gofundme.

I remember being at an Amsterdam exhibit of the human body, I forget the name of it, but there I read that people, especially women, can doe of broken hearts. Everytime something tragic happens to you, and you are affected emotionally by it, your heart takes a toll. There have been accounts of women (and I'm guessing it can happen to men too) who grew very sad at unrequited love and who died earlier than normal because of it.
The stress alone can be too much to handle
True words
The stress can kill, the effects of a broken heart. I’ve heard stories of mothers dying when losing children because of the intense grief. It made them physically ill.
I believe it

I don't know if it can kill you, but it can hurt an awful lot. People with broken hearts have also been known to take their own lives. If there was just an easy way to mend a broken heart. Unfortunately, Father Time says there isn't.

Most people who have broken heart syndrome quickly recover and don't have long-lasting effects. But sometimes the condition occurs again. This is called recurrent takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Rarely, broken heart syndrome can cause death

I doubt a broken heart itself can kill you but what can kill you is the fact that you can feel mentally broken into a million pieces which can cause severe depression and can give you the feeling of despare or make you suicidale. A broken heart is one of the worst pains we can experience as a human being and it should never been taking lightly. Especially if you know yourself that you are mentally not very stable or strong!

I believe so. When my great grandmother died, my great grandfather died 3 weeks later. He refused to eat. They even caught him sneaking food they made for him in his pants pockets to throw out. He stated that she wasn’t here anymore and didn’t want to be either. This was not an attempt at starvation but rather a deep depression which made him loose his appetite.
I believe he died of a broken heart.
Aww 😢
I have read and heard tell it sure can. Never for me except when I broke it off as a teen with my first love and for 7 years, I was never the same. One day got my closure before he married and got on with my life. I didn't feel the same about him anymore.
I understand your emotion
Have NOT felt like that in so long. I do recall it was a near killer.
Hugs 🤗
More hugs. xx
🙂🙂
No but it can feel like it. Perhaps in the much older people losing your spouse can be the impetus for you pretty much giving up the desire to live but no, being dumped or cheated on as bad as it is it’s not going to cause your demise.
Very true
It could if it happens too often. They say that rejection and loneliness is just as deadly as smoking large quantities of cigarets per day.
I believe it definitely injures the soul which directly effects the body
"Literally" ? Yes lol, but that's probably not what you mean. "Literally", if your heart is broken, as in "it doesn't work properly", yes it could kill you. But if you're talking about "heartbreak", then no. The anxiety and emotional distress that comes with "a broken heart" could kill you, if you allow it to, but not "literally".
It’s proven that a heart can shrink when a person suffers heavy grief.
Scientifically? Wow
Yes. I was looking into it after I lost my mother. I had a tough time. Freaking myself out through research helped.
Knowledge is power… 🤷🏻♂️ hugs 🤗
Truth 🤗 Whatever works.
Amen 🙏 🤗
either kills you... or makes you write and compose great songs...

I have heard of old people dying of a broken heart after their wife/husband passes. Doesn't seem impossible.

Very sad
And sweet at the same time.. I’ve had livestock do the same thing
Definitely. That isn't hard to believe either.
I've read a few articles about broken heart syndrome, I think there could be something to that.
Broken Heart Syndrome

Yes, I think that happens among older couples when one of them dies.
It happens a lot
Yes, and its very sad too. But such is the chance people take when they fall in love.
It can certainly push someone already faltering over the edge.
Why yes, I believe it can
Me too
can contribute to it just like any depression
True
If you choose to lay in your loss then yes
Probably
It happens more often than you think.

No! A heart doesn’t break to begin with.
A heart attack can kill you.
Women believe that.
Nope.
Dead inside, I am.
