Why do ex’s feel there righteous?

My now ex that I just broken up with telling me to block him when he hurt me in our relationship I’m tired of how I’m treated it’s sickening. Is it his ego he’s trying to save or what not only that i just came back on WhatsApp didn’t bother him and he text me several times saying why i came back why dont i block him.. im not even bothering him
