When you break up with a gaslighting narcissist do they generally stay away or do they let it go?

I’m asking due to the articles I’ve read that they don’t allow breakups to stop them from trying to get back with you. I also read it’s hard to shake one out of your life. Just want to understand what I’m up against moving forward

Generally speaking, the nature of a narcissist is to move on and find another sympathetic admirer/victim while denigrating the one who dumped him or her. They will take revenge if it's "convenient" and doesn't require too much effort. Most of their energy will focus on telling anyone who'll listen what a loser the other person is, rather than concocting a scheme to "make them pay".

Last narcissist I broke up with harassed me for about a yr. And a half afterwards. She's the only one I've had an issue with. So it could go either way. I'd say it has more to do with her unique personality.

They try to keep you in their lives anyways possible to make sure you aren't happy and still give them attention even if it is negative attention
