Rick Moranis. But he left for what was pretty much the best possible reason- his wife died, and he had to take care of the kids full-time. So I salute him for prioritizing his family, even if our entertainment suffered.

If I can extend it TV (he DID do movies, but I don't think I ever saw any), I'll say Andreas Katsulas. The man was absolutely phenomenal in Babylon 5; by the end of the show's run, the audience would've happily listened to him read from a phone book. Oh, and he did so while looking like this:

Yeah. He gave that performance under seven pounds of latex and makeup; his skill as a facial actor is equaled (from what I've seen) only by Patrick McGoohan in the Prisoner. And it wasn't just facial stuff- for some scenes, there was a chest piece as well:

That had to be glued on. And, not to stereotype, but Katsulas WAS Greek- the commentary for that episode said "the screams could be heard across the studio building".

I noticed I'm the only one that picked someone that performed on vaudeville. North American vaudeville stage during its heyday between 1881 and 1932.
