Well.. I have a few for different reasons. I haven’t heard these in a while, except for the ‘umbrella one.’ 🌂 ☔️ ☂
(4 songs)
[1]
^^ this one is sad because I could feel the struggle in it, in trying to do the right thing, and it was in a film which Chadwick Boseman used to be in, so having his passing was in the back of my mind throughout the film, and these songs were powerful to me. Sad as well.
[2]
^^this one is somewhat sad because you can feel the desire to accomplish and live well. It’s a sweet sadness. To me, at least.
[3]
^^ This one is sad because the desire is more agonizing in theme, and quite desperate. I heard this at a time in my life that was quite numb and powerless/ impact-less. I had blasted this song and I can’t remember if I shouted along, or what, but yeah… I don't know if it actually helped. 😂 You need other songs after this one, to actually give good perspective, otherwise this song- though some could relate- gives no perspective and will just promote a downward emotional spiral 🌀 or stagnation, really. Be careful with it. lol definitely have a positive song like ‘dancing?’ by Megan trainor? Or ‘good to be alive’ by Andy grammar lol <— something loose.
[4]
^^ This one was sad. It reminded me of my mom and I had been missing her. This song is still hopeful though, and funny enough, it actually rained the day I played this for the first time and had cried to it. It was almost a “spiritual experience- like.” Although I’m not much of a spiritual person anymore lol.
Anyways, hopefully these resonate in line with the question. ☺️👍
Not full cry but def lump in my throat. Pretty difficult for me to actually cry, I trained it out of my system early on, can’t just get back the ability willy nilly😛 — too bad bc it’s good for your eyes!
Gunners dream, Pink Floyd
Danny Boy, Paul Robeson
im sure there’s more lol but for now they’ll do
There are four that come to mind.
All intertwined within one another for they all relate to a painful memory that exists within my brain.
One that surfaces every now and again.
1st > My December - Linkin Park
A month of celebration for many.
Not so much for me.
A letter is my Christmas present.
A constant reminder of a renewal detailing the battle one has to endure for another year.
2nd > Majesty Featuring Veela - Ben Moon
It's the last sentence of the pre-chorus that hits the hardest and reminds me of that day in December:
"How cruel have we become
To know what we have done
Tomorrow, another one, "Dear you're not here"
We watched them leave
Leave our homes"
3rd > The Little Things Give You Away - Linkin Park
On that day in December, one day I'll never forget for the rest of my life, I played this at full blast in my car. The guitar solo deserves that at the very least.
4th > Shadow of the Day - Linkin Park
A few December's have now past since the one deep rooted in my memory.
Life could've turned out so different back then, such that I wouldn't be responding to this post today.
The fact I can still listen to this song is factual proof I'm still here, enduring the pain years later.
A lifelong battle of endurance, as each day passes, I'm 1stp Klosr to what I need to work towards.
Once I've finished, only then and not a moment before, I shall then close both locks on the window below.
Referencing the 2nd song, I'll then await the
Sister of Blades [to] take my soul
(Feel the drums and they hum so loud
Shooting guns from a one-man crowd)
Release my pain, one-handed blow.
Thank you for MHO :-)
It depends on my mood.
Sometimes Machine Gun on the Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies album carries me away.
Candle in the Wind by Elton John
Here's a live version
.
Miner's Lullaby by my friend Bruce U. Utah Phillips. I miss him.
I Think of You by Utah Phillips.
Stand By Me by Ben E. King
Let's Get Together. The Youngbloods version.
There are many more. I feel music deeply at times. I'm a romantic. But nostalgia effects me, too.

"Diary" by Bread.
The Kilkelly Ireland Song
None, TBH. Why would a song make me cry?
There are a number of them, but I think the Irish song, "Londonderry Air," also called "Oh, Danny Boy," has to be one of the saddest songs ever written! And I'm not even Irish!
Also, over 50 years ago, a girl I loved very much had broken up with me during a visit to her parents' home. As she (with her sister along as chaperone!) was driving me to the airport afterward, a song that was popular at the time came on the car radio. It was the song "Softly (I will leave you softly, 'cause my heart would break if you should wake and see me go...)" Boy, was THAT hard to take under those tough circumstances! I should have asked them to turn it off but I just couldn't. In the long run it was for the best, but, you know...
Almost any song my mom would play on the piano, but especially "Claire de Lune" by Debussy. I found out at her wake that she almost went to Hollywood to do piano playing and singing. She decided to stay in the midwest for several reasons I won't go into, but never lost her love for music. After she could no longer play the piano due to physical limitations, she switch ed to the organ, which looks harder but is easier on the hands. At over 70, I'm finding this out as well on my one piano and two organs.
i don't cry to any songs, but some sad songs i listen to are:
1. villian by mj apanay
2. forget i exist by sam macpherson
3. kill bill by sza
4. better friends by abby cates
i just really relate to these songs and that's what makes it sad..
A lot of Disney songs do this to me. The Circle of Life (Lion King) & I Can Go the Distance (Hercules) make me tear up every time I hear them.
Also, Dream by Cranberries, Mariah Carey - My All and Ed Sheeran - Supermarket Flowers / Afire Love and Heroes by Bowie
Many.
But off the top of my head.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/ACv641ut2Mohttps://www.youtube.com/embed/zYfe9caNqfAI never told anyone why This song gets my crying and sobbing every time I hear it.
But I'm going to tell you now.
See I was once a abused child and this video hits me right in the heart.
I can't watch it, because it brings back to much pain and suffering
https://www.youtube.com/embed/KAOFi-7IxPwJohnny Cash's cover of Hurt is the one that gets me closest to crying because the emotion he sings it with, and knowing that it was at the end of his life makes those emotions more poignant in my opinion.
well those are 2 that came to my mind
https://www.youtube.com/embed/KjgWWjkNbhUhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/b_zHQ6kFuQ0Sound the bugle from spirit stallion of the Cimarron
https://www.youtube.com/embed/QZIF6XnlRGIAnd Midna's lament from the legend of Zelda twilight princess
https://www.youtube.com/embed/137YvPWp0jI- Tired of being alone (Tarja Turunen)
- Wish you were hear (Blackmore's night)
- Fate (Jade Warrior soundtrack)
- One for sorrow (Steps)
All of them remind me of the only girl I ever met that I call closest one to absolute perfection. Never had a chance of even becoming a facebook friend. She is a girl I met ar work.
None. The closest for me is probably Jars of Clay's "Fly." It is based on the story of a couple fighting a losing battle against the wife's cancer. Specifically, it is about the moment at which her husband "lets her go".
Silence - Khalid nd Marshmallow just does something to me. The lyrics are so in tune with my situations and it’s like he had been watching me and wrote that song about me specifically. It makes me so sad that even when I’m happy I always skip it so I won’t be triggered.
This song made me a bit Teary eyed I had a rough childhood but I made it through much happier and stronger 😂
by the way men don’t cry WE WEEP!
When your dad passes away, this song hits differently
https://www.youtube.com/embed/wmDxJrggie8This got me good the other day… didn’t expect Sonny’s vocal to hit that hard. 😮💨
https://www.youtube.com/embed/orON3Q_IURsTell me where it hurts by Kathy Recoli. I used to sing this to my son when growing up was hard on him.
I think it's more of a song from her kids, not boyfriend or husband.
On the nature of daylight, by max Richter. When i first heard it in the movie "Arrival", I began sobbing and quickly realized this wasn't gonna be the average alien invasion movie.
For personal reason, Hello by Adele. The word “anymore” is the most important word in the song:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/YQHsXMglC9ABette Midler's rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings"
