I know. It's like when we are babies and we hold on to our parent (s) leg and cry because they are going out the door. We leave scratch marks sometimes.
Seriously, when we have ato let go of a person we are so afraid of never meeting anyone again. And yes, it does take a very long time to be at the right place at the right for that to happen. But it will probably happen again.
There are so many reasons to answer this. The only true answer I have found is that it just takes time. Could be never.
There is no fast remedy for being heart sick 🤢. I wish there was!
And don't put yourself under pressure to hurry and just get over it. It doesn't work that way. Everyone is different.
Crying in the shower helped me along with writing poetry and I didn't even know I am a poet.
I started filling up my time going to church and being social.
One thing you don't want to do is listen to music that reminds you of the other person. That really helped too, because music just made me cry and feel really sad.

Letting go of someone can be difficult for a variety of reasons. Short answer: because you still love them.

    Long answer.

Memories and nostalgia: Memories of happy times with the person can be a powerful force that keeps us holding on, even if the relationship is no longer healthy or fulfilling.

Attachment: Human beings are naturally wired for connection, and we often form strong emotional attachments to people we care about. When a relationship ends, it can be difficult to sever those emotional ties and move on.

Hope for reconciliation: Sometimes, we hold on to the hope that the relationship can be salvaged or that the person will come back to us. This can be a difficult hope to let go of, especially if the relationship ended abruptly or without closure.

Loss and grief: Ending a relationship can bring up feelings of loss and grief, like the experience of losing someone through death. This can be a painful and arduous process, and it's natural to want to hold on to the person and the relationship to avoid the pain of letting go.

Fear of the unknown: Letting go of someone often means facing an uncertain future without them. This can be scary and overwhelming, especially if the person has been a constant presence in our lives for a long time.

Because we think they can’t be replaced. But they can be.

Because you gave a lot to the relationship and you feel angry that that person advanced. They also offered you a sense of purpose, and familiarity.

Sometimes it's just your ego that can't let go. Don't know the circumstances but just a possibility.

It is like having a death. It is a real loss except they are still accessible. Grieving sucks !!

We romanticize the relationship, and focus on the good parts. But there were things that didn't work. Focus on that part to help move you forward. No one is good a loss, it's hard. Keep yourself busy, make an "ick" list, journal, exercise, meditate, read, rely on your support system, etc.. it takes work to move forward.

Because of the time and habits you shared. Love. Routine.

It can help to focus on a new routine for your own but it takes time :)

It's easy. Just don't hold them in your consciousness. That is the trick.

You did spend a considerable amount of time with them, you gave them yourself in a way, and they hopefully did the same thing, that's why it's hard.

Just your ego and unability to feel love, try to feel only love, you will let go and find someone else easily. Give up the brainwashing that the television does on you and all the stereotypes.
