Trying to wrap my head around as to why he wants a break, any ideas?

Me and him has been going strong for 7 months and he just threw it to me that he wants to take a break, because there’s things we need to work on personally to strengthen our relationship and the stress of his parents going through a divorce ( his father gave the papers to his mom 4 days ago). I can’t wrap my head as to why he wants to do this when he knows I support him and help him in any way possible. He says he will still call me, text me and have our usual conversations. But I can’t help but to have my doubts bc of the curve ball that was just thrown at me. Any words of wisdom?

having your parents go through a divorce really makes you want nothing to do with relationships. if he is saying you both need to work to strengthen your relationship, then this hasn't been going as strong as you think it has.

i think you need to give him all the time to reflect what he is going through. divorce is tough on kids (not saying you're a kid).

You have been with him for 7months. The relationship should still feel new in some way. Sounds like he just wants his freedom. Why want a break that early in a relationship? From my perspective, he is using the parents divorce card as an excuse to have freedom. Maybe he is having doubts and doesn’t know if he is ready for commitment. If someone is treating you like they’re unsure about you, they usually are.

The more you ask, the more they will want one. Trust me on this, give them their break. Or you will lose them. No question, which is my point, dont ask.

Be patient and give him space. I think he really likes you he’s just going through a lot.
