But for explanation sake
So they broke up because Megan tried to be controlling. After Connor saw her use her psychic power in a rather brutal way while performing an interrogation, he gets uncomfortable around her. Megan, in an attempt to fix that, foolishly tried to erase Connor's memory of the incident. Connor knew what she tried to do, felt betrayed understandably and breaks things off. Megan doesn't know this cause she never asked him and he never told her so she moved on to the fish dude. Although that was extremely inappropriate of her.
I don't know if the whole explanation rant is what you wanted but i just wanted to put that out.
