I was crying and my hands were shaking and I was fiddling with my earrings (and he was staring at me so intensely and at my trembling hands)- which was very embarrassing for me. So I asked him is this easy for you to do? He said it’s not but it needs to be done, and it makes it harder when you come crying like that.

I don't think it is wrong to cry. It is okay to be emotional. Breakups hurt a lot for one or both.

He probably feels bad that he makes you cry by breaking up with you. And it hurts him to see your emotions. You both know that it has to be done, so he probably means that seeing your emotional side of it makes him feel guilty and bad. But he can't let your tears and emotions stop him so he just tries to keep going.
