He wants me to block my ex? would you too?

I only have one ex. Was with him for 6 years. We are just friends. Completely platonic, we confirmed this. I dont want to block him just yet because we just broke up 3 months ago. he's not over me. He's in love with me. I have moved on to my boyfriend been with this guy for 1 month. But I know my ex is already hurting and dont want to hurt him even more. He needs to first feel the absence of me before I tell him oh and I've already moved on to the next guy too. My boyfriend wants me to block my ex, but like I have only known this guy for 1 month versus my ex of 6 years. I agree I will block him esp when its been official longer with my boyfriend, but I feel like its too early for my ex. I haven't told my boyfriend this. But he has said being friends w exes on social media has been a deal breaker with him with other girls in the past. So im scared.

Rip off the bandaid. At least for me, being in what sounds like your ex’s position, it’s very easy to have false hope of getting back together. Blocking is a bit extreme, and to me is a last resort always. I feel like our society reaches for the block button way too often and quickly these days, when it should be reserved as a true last resort.

But I digress. There’s no reason to talk to your ex. He needs to move on, and so do you. Continuing to have any kinda communication with him isn’t healthy or productive in my opinion.

The whole “he loves me” and “I don’t wanna break his heart further” is exactly why you need to stop talking with him. He’s just getting false hope. I know if I loved someone and we broke up, I’d need space (even if I didn’t realize it). It’d hurt me more to see them continue to contact me. He needs to move on. And you continuing to talk to him, isn’t helping him do that.

I don’t blame you for any of that. Breakups are hard and it’s not easy to know how to handle it. But it’s time to rip off the bandaid and move on.

So again. I have mixed feelings about the whole blocking thing. But definitely doesn’t sound like a healthy situation to have ANY communication with him.

Lol what a crock of shit. If this was him you’d be telling him to block his ex. He’s an ex for a reason. The ultimate thing in hurting someone in a relationship is probably breaking up w them which you did. Let it go already. Can’t hurt him more than what you did when you said adios. It amazes me how women think. Pull the cord before your current boyfriend pulls the cord on you. If you feel so bad for your ex why did you break up w him?
