Why won’t a guy let me return his hoodie months after the breakup?

My ex and I broke up a few months ago. He refuses to let me return the hoodie he gave me. I know seeing me can be painful on his end but at the same time he might not want to see me. I know he’s with another girl right now and that might play a factor as well.
