So my ex and I were together for 4 months before he ended things, and we remained actively in contact and hanging out in the 5 months since the breakup.
Since the breakup we’ve hung out many times, he asked to meet my friends, we’ve asked if the others met anyone, checked on locations mutually, etc. quite honestly I thought things were going really well between us post breakup. When we initially broke up he said he saw us trying again once things settled down for him in his personal life, so I’ve been under no delusions about resuming a relationship any time soon.
However things have been Strange between us the last couple of weeks after he met my friends. He’s been more distant. So I finally asked him about it yesterday and got an answer I wasn’t expecting. He said he doesn’t see himself building a life with me, and after I asked him why and if id done anything, he said he doesn’t love me. It completely blindsided me. I wasn’t even thinking about long term or love right now as again, we weren’t even officially together. His response shocked and upset me so much I ended up just cutting contact and blocking because how could he waste so much of my time like this?
Anyway, my question is A) why would he suddenly tell me this after all this time and B) is it true?
For now I’m okay to remain in no contact with him I need some space from all of this.
