Why do men push their girlfriend away?

Anonymous

My ex and I had been having a lot of little fights which eventually ended up leading to us breaking up. We’re long distance due to situation that are beyond our control. I’m somewhat in a more stable condition. We had plans to work towards our future together. But I could see things were getting to him. He said it was a matter of time before I left him, and that I’m just like his ex (she got married 2 months after they broke up). He started resenting me for the opportunities I had. He said some hurtful stuff. I know he’s stressed out. I offered to help both financially and help him get things together. He refused and told me to just start living my life, and that I should get married since I am a woman. He pushed me to the point of no return. I want to know why men do that? I got accused of doing things I didn’t even do. He kept saying “ it was a matter of time before I did this or did that” ? Why say something they regret. Why push away someone who is there. Is it because of inferiority complex? Is it because he doesn’t want to waste my time knowing getting married and having a baby is what I’ve always wanted? Why be so rude? I really feel like I know nothing about relationships. What happened to sticking it out if we love each other, or am I a fool to believe that?
