Why would a guy push a girl that wants to get to know him away?

So there's a guy that I've had a crush on, he's in the same year as me, just a different class. Apparently he doesn't really talk to anyone and has no friends, every time I see him in the hallway he's on his phone looking a bit awkward - always. Also, he doesn't have any social media. I came up to him at school once, just to have a quick chat with him, I introduced myself, said that he looks friendly and asked for his messenger. He avoided eye contact and seemed super nervous. A few days later I texted him saying hi and asking how his weekend went - he ignored my messages, it's been almost a month and he still hasn't replied. I don't really understand his behaviour, nobody really seems to care about him in his class and I just wanted to get to know him. After that I said hi to him at school and he replied. We don't even have to get close, but I thought it would be nice to just talk from time to time - I never had such a problem with other people at my school, sometimes we just say hi to each other and that's it, but with him it's different. I'd say that I'm pretty attractive, dress well - guys from his class find me pretty. So what might be a reason for that? Is it because of his shyness? Should I just leave him alone? Doesn't he realize that ghosting and ignoring another person is just rude and makes me overanalyze myself? Why is he acting like that?

He for sure has no idea how to talk to you, that's clear. Maybe he really is just shy, so you just need to find a way to break him out of his shell. He is being rude, but I don't think that it's on purpose.

I don't know if you need to do anything exactly. Maybe just keep saying hi and giving him the opportunity to talk. You could ask him a really simple question, like what's he looking at, which wouldn't require him to think a lot or give a long answer. As long as you keep being polite and open I'm sure he will become more open too.

I don't think you have to, but if you want to try and be his friend, sure.

It's possible he ignored the message because he was thinking what the hell does he say, then left it too long and now feels awkward to reply at all. I am an overthinker and do stupid stuff like that all the time.

If he is alone without friends like you said then he might be an introvert... he likes to be alone, he doesn't like to socialize but of course no one likes to be completely alone so he would like to have few friends... In that case, maybe he doesn't know what to say or what to do because of lack of communication with other people.. so he might take some time to open up to you... Also he might feel nervous and shy at first till he gets used of having someone talking to him... But if he keeps pushing you a lot then it would be better to take a step back

I think you should talk to him in person and see how far it goes, there's a chance that once he gets comfortable with you he will start texting

Most likely it's his Shyness, I have done that myself because of my Shyness which is why I am Single at the moment.
Just keep trying to flirt with him when your alone with him and he will eventually ask you out.
