Why is my guy friend ignoring me all of the sudden?

We've known eachother since kindergarten, and whenever we're together we are always laughing or just very sarcastic. Last year he dated my friend and whenever they would hang out he made sure I knew he would talk me like a hundred times and the next day he would tell me what they did. But the one day I hung with her he called me screaming at me saying we were not allowed to hang out. They ended up breaking up. In the halls he would always push me. My friend always would catch him checking me out and he didn't deny it. I was working a fundraiser the day after school got out and he came up to me and said I know you like me and I denied it because I did not like him at the time but now I do. At homecoming we danced. And we have most of the same classes and so everyday he would ask me how my volleyball games went or told me I played great last night. The one day I asked about his football game he got mad. My friends say he likes me but I just can't see it. He is always so hot and cold and I'm the only girl he does this with. So one day I asked him what his problem is and he said he likes to mess with me then asked to hold my hand so we held hands. My one friend is close to him but he says he doesn't like me but he doesn't know I like him. The past three weeks we have not talked it's like I don't exist he has no idea who I am and I did nothing to him to make him mad and he is so cold and whenever I talk to him like the other day I said hi and he was just like snapped at was like what do you want from me. He's never done this with any other girl and I can't figure it out. He also would flirt with me and once called me a beaut. Any help please and thanks you.

To start, I'm sorry for what you're going through. I know in this time, it sounds like you're trying to go over a tall brick wall all of a sudden.

From my perspective of this question, it sounds like he's going through a lot of emotions. Often or more, confused as to what he wants to do next. And you're probably the same as well. The question remains for you is, do you want to be friends with him? or get into a mutual relationship with him? More or less, he wants an answer. Having an honest conversation together somewhere face to face and talking about this issue about your friendship is probably what's needed here.
