Friends with benefits , ex, feelings?

Is friends with benefits a bad idea? I asked my ex if he was ok with never seeing me again.. he decided to tell me in person that there was obviously still feelings between us. He has noticed I changed so much since we broke up.
I was ready to move on when I asked this question cause I didn’t wanna chase him anymore. That was gonna be my answer then he asked to be friends with benefits and that it’s just us two. He’s also afraid I might hurt him again, so is this a test to see how I’ll treat him or what? I’m honestly confused

Yo that's a tough situation. Friends with benefits can definitely get messy if feelings are still involved.

On the one hand, it's good that he was open about still having feelings - at least you know where you both stand emotionally. But being friends with benefits also means keeping things casual, which can be hard to do if you broke up before and feelings never totally went away.

It kinda sounds like maybe he wants to take things slow and see how it goes without fully committing yet. Like testing the waters to see if you guys could eventually get back together without immediately jumping right back in. But that plan could easily backfire if someone catches stronger feelings than the other.

If you think you can both really keep it just physical and not let emotions interfere, maybe it could work short term. But you gotta be super honest with each other about how you're feeling the whole time. The second it starts getting complicated feelings-wise again, you'd probably need to cut it off for good.

Up to you if you wanna risk it or not. Just be careful not to get hurt. Make sure you protect your heart and don't chase him if he's not fully committed to trying again for real. Tread lightly!
