Ex accepted my messager request, but hasn't responded to my message?

My ex and I were very serious about many years ago. He tried to get me back for years, and ultimately said if we couldn't be together then he wanted to be friends. I got married, and he was seeing another person but always told me that " she wasn't me". Eventually, I stopped talking to him because he wasn't able to move on with a new relationship. After I stopped talking to him, he married that girl. Long story short, After about seven years of not talking, I texted him on messager. I fully expect him to be very angry with me, and thought he might block me due to my disappearance. He accepted my message request because it says we're "connected " but hasn't yet responded. This was two days ago. Do you think he hates me? Or maybe he just doesn't know what to say? Thanks for your Opinions in advance.

There are many possible reasons for him not answering and the first and most obvious one is that he is in a relationship and she may not approve of him talking to an ex. That is the most plausible explanation in my eyes.

Another reason could be that he has not fully "digested" the fact that you separated and that he only took this girl that was "not you" as a substitute but is not really happy in that relationship.

Finally, he may still have feelings and that he does not want to wake up those memories of the past by fear they may hurt him too much.

Personally, I think it was a mistake that you tried to contact him again. The past is best left alone.

Maybe that he has been warned by his wife not to talk to you. She may be insecure and think that he may have an affair. It is always something delicate to try to reconnect to an ex not knowing how the partner would react. She may look into his profile and be worried.
