Everytime I message my ex she messages me back but she never initiates contact.. she has a boyfriend and we have conversations everyday.. Am I wasting my time or not?

I think she is unintentionally leading you on. Sometimes there are reasons we call each other exes. With the fact she does no much, ah e probably doesn't want to seem rude on your texts and replies.
Depends on what you guys text about. She maybe staying loyal to her boyfriend or doesn't want to be standing a bridge deciding which side to go to.
Just be careful if her boyfriend finds out she will be made the bad guy.

What are you even trying to achieve? Win her back? That won't work, you can't get back what you had before a breakup. Staying friends? Not going to happen, she'll tell you to fuck off the momen you're even the slightest risk to her plans (you're her ex, and will always be that).
