Why would someone catch their partner cheating and decide to not confront them about it and instead, just end the relationship?

Background information:

Man and woman date for 5 years. Towards the end of the 5 years, the man finds out the woman has been cheating because he found medication for an STD in her room. Instead of confronting her about her cheating and freaking out on her, he pretends he never saw it and just breaks up with her without giving her a reason. Why would he do this? I feel like most people would freak out and confront the cheater.

In that case. Why should he bother? She destroyed their relationship and he doesn't owe her anything including closure. I would've done the same thing.
Plus if you hurt a man enough he doesn't care for her excuses anymore. Cause she's dead to him.

I ended my 6y relationship with my first boyfriend when I found out he cheated. Broke up that might and he slept in the other room, and I left him in the place 2 wks later after getting a new place solo.

Why talk? He already made his choice clear and I have no time or interest in taking back a cowardly cheater.

Most people would just because they probably need to hear the reason or the excuse but I see the logic in not wanting to give them a chance to talk their way out of it and see if they can manipulate you into giving them another chance. If you know you're done then just be done and go. They know what they did already.
